The Woman in Black Book

So after seeing the movie I had to read the book.

I felt the movie left out the deeper story of the woman in black,

and I had to find out what it was.

Well I was a little disappointed in the book.

I felt that the movie actually added some substance to the story.

It wasn't a bad read.

I read it really quick...about 1 day.

But I prefer the movie version better.

Divergent

Attention book lovers!!!!

I have stumbled upon the next great series. 

I read Divergent right after The Hunger Games. 

I LOVED the book. 

I could not put it down. 

It is another futuristic society.

The people are divided into personality type communities. 

These communities define their way of lives and jobs.

I cannot stress to you how much I loved it.

The next book comes out in May.

I cannot wait.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

I finished up the trilogy before the movie came out, 

and I LOVED it!!!

It was good. 

I was sucked in from the beginning. 

I wasn't sure if I would like the post apocalyptical period, 

but I liked it a lot!!

My favorite book was Catching Fire (even though it was a slow start.)

I was team Peeta from the start.  

The ending was unconventional, 

but I still liked it. 

It fit the story.

And hey every once in a while unconventional is good. 

I love to watch how movies are adapted from the book. 

I love to see how the interpretation matches up to the picture in my mind. 

The great thing about the movie was it brought my imagination to life. 

I thought it was a great interpretation of the book. 

I loved it!!!

It stinks that we have to wait until November 2013 for Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games

I finally took a chance on the latest craze.

I don't know what my hesitation was. 

I bought the book at least 6 months ago, but was so resistant to read it.

Oh but I am so glad that I did. 

I loved it.

It was so different than anything I ever read.

It really gave me a chance to exercise my imagination. 

And of course I loved the love story in it. 

It was sweet but innocent. 

I am 1/2 through Catching Fire and I love it too. 

I can't wait for the movie!!!

Water For Elephants

A few months before the movie I decided I wanted to read the book.

I am very glad I did. It was mysterious and romantic. 

I found the time period and circus setting fantastic. 

I recommend it.

Then the movie came out and.....

LOVE!!!!!!

First of all one of my favorite actor and actress are the stars. 

The book was brought to life. 

Of course there were some adaptations, 

but I think that they were good for the big screen. 

I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

Blue Bloods

After finishing up Harry Potter I decided to try a new series. 

I picked up Blue Bloods after a few recommendations. 

It was pretty good. It was a quick and easy read. 

I did not pick up  the second book right away, but I do plan on reading more. 

JANE EYRE

A few weeks ago,

 for my birthday, 

my friends to me to a movie. 

I picked Jane Eyre. 

I  LOVED it. 

I had never heard the story, 

so it was all brand new for me. 

I loved it so much that I went home and started reading right away. 

It is not a quick read, 

but it is a good read.

Jane Austen Ruined My Life

I just got finished reading this book. 

AMAZING!!!!

If ever there were such thing as an author soulmate Beth Pattillo is mine. 

She writes like I think. 

I can't wait to read more of her books. 

This book was full of love, heart ache, history, England, Jane Austen, and self discovery. 

The ending was a really good message. 

And amazingly enough it was exactly what I  needed. 

I cried tears of joy. 

I recommend it. 

2 Cary thumbs way way up!!!!

Shutter Island

With all the adjusting I have been doing over the past few months I have not had much time to read. So I am glad that my first book back in the mix was Shutter Island. It was AMAZING. I loved the mental health aspect of it. I loved that it was set in the 50's. (I love that time period.) It was a psychological thriller at its best. I read it in about 3 days. Under normal circumstances for me that is no big deal, but during this busy period of life that is saying a lot. 

I was so good that I finished it and ran right out and rented the movie.

And you know what?

It was great, too. It was an accurate representation of the book. 

If you like to read....READ IT!!!

Attention Twilight Fans

So Twilight fans have you heard?

Stephenie Meyer's is adding a book to the Twilight collection.

Don't get excited yet.

It is NOT, I REPEAT, NOT Midnight Sun.

The book is the view of Bree--the hardly memorable new vampire that the Cullen's tried to save at the end of Eclipse. I don't know about you but I don't care about Bree's view point. I want Edward's view point. Obviously Stephenie cannot stop writing about vampires like she expected.

I wish she could finish Midnight Sun.

I know I am kind of complaining here, but I do imagine that I will eventually read it. Mainly because of curiosity.

Letters to God

I just finished reading a great book- Letters to God. It was written by Christian authours and inspired by a true story. It is about a little boy that writes his prayers to God and those letters to God change the lives of so many people. I started crying in chapter 2 and kept crying throughout the entire book. I love a book that envokes so much emotion. It is a short book. I read it in about 2 sittings. When I finished it last night I bawled like a baby. It stired some emotions in me that I had been trying to surpress. I love a book that can do that. It is a real look at how God is in every thing--big and small. 2 thumbs way up. I highly reccomend it.

What is even better it is coming out in theaters on April 9th. I can't wait.

The Little Women

The Little Women

I have read this book before. I just thought it would be fun to read it again. I love the movie. It is such a sweet story of growth and love. I listened to it on audio book this go round. I’ll be honest. It was not a good audio book for me. I do love the story though. I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago. (the old one) It did for my Little Women fix. I may watch the newer version of the movie soon just because I like the cast and their portrayal of the story.

I don’t really know what to say about this book. I don’t think I hated it, but I sure didn’t love it. The idea or subject matter is amazing. The book is about a young girl that was murdered. She is telling the story from heaven. The synopsis says she is trying to help her family figure out her murder, but I don’t think that the story line for that was developed well enough. There was also too much time jumping for me. It would go from heaven present, Earth present, Earth past; then it would jump from character x’s present to character y’s past. Sometimes I found myself confused. The first half of the book was slow. When I got half way it started to build and catch my attention. I would read and read waiting for the wow moment and the interest momentum would just fade. I was definitely disappointed in the ending. Mainly because it ended completely different from how I thought it would end. The ending brought to light a story theme that I had missed through the book. Looking back maybe it was evident, but I thought it was lacking. I won’t tell you not to read it, because like I said I didn’t hate it. You may find the magic I missed. I don’t know anything about the author. I think that she may be on the verge of being great. Even though I was not happy with the ending, I think I will see the movie, because I like to see how the transformation happens. I think book to screen is a cool art. I'll let you know what I think.

AVATAR

I just have to say that AVATAR is an AWESOME movie. I had my doubts, but I was wrong. The 3D was great. The story line was amazing. I definitely recommend it. At least check out the trailer. (but know that it does it no justice)

Good Read

Sometimes I have trouble slowing down and being still long enough

to really hear what God is saying to me. I also have also had times I 

thought I was hearing from God, but after the situation played out it 

was obvious it wasn't God. Well I read a book recently that speaks 

to just these type of issues. It is Joyce Meyer's How To Hear From God.I love Joyce. She is an amazing woman of God. She is also a 

great author. The book really gives guidance on how God talks to us and ways to make sure we are listening. I highly recommend this

book.
